---snip--- OK, there I am, having my Flight Captain practical exam on IVAO. I get the route EDDL EDDW. No problem, flight plan is: EDDL-MEVEL4T-OSN-R15-BASUM3P Preflight is well, take off is well, flying manually into the SID is well, climb is well, just reached FL230 around MEVEL (as filed) as I get a "d/m FL110 at OSN". No problem, dial in 110 on the MCP, switch off VNAV, dial in -2000ft/min to see the green arc and match it so I reach on V/S 110 at OSN. No problem. "Contact Bremen Radar", no problem. Having received the ARCAS before, I knew i would get the 27 at EDDW so passing OSN on LNAV@110 I set up the freqencies for 27. "Contact Bremen Arrival". No Problem. "Expect radar vectors after passing BASUM". No Problem. "d/m 070 on 050". No problem - dial in 7000 on the MCP and choos -2100 on V/S. Switch off LNAV and dial in 050 on the MCP. "turn left 360 d/m 3000" - No Problem, same procedure. "turn left 300, cleared for ILS 27", no problem. When at heading 300, I engage APP mode. GS and LOC are captured, I report "fully established". At OM I get a "aircraft blocking the rwy, go around, climb to 3000". I click on APP to deselect but nothing happens. I switch the master A/P off and on. Now no mode is lightened on the MCP while I manually try to climb (aircraft is trimmed for descent, so it's a bit difficult). I repeat switching off and on the AP. Finally I'm stabilized in a climb and have the still active A/T set to 210. So there I am, things are setteling, passing the IM, climbing manually with 500 ft/min, when I try to switch on AP for another time. MCP Alt ist still at 3000 and I am around 1000. I hit "Alt SEL" and *BOOOOOOOM* - "SINKRATE" (exactely once), the aircraft goes into a steep dive and then I crash into the runway. Exam failed (and I made a big hole into the runway). What did I do wrong? I have the idea that maybe the AC was still in APP mode but the APP mode light was not lightened? How do you engage the AP again if you perform a go-around? Dancer out.
