Tja, da wünscht man sich jetzt, dass Installationsprogramme bei Fehlern immer auch ausgeben, was sie eigentlich tun wollten. Eine Logdatei in der steht, wo welche Dateien hinkopiert wurden (und was dabei passiert ist) wäre auch nicht schlecht.
Vielleicht ist das die Ursache für Deine Abstürze.
