problem bei ami-biosupdate

wie gesagt, das problem mit dem real mode hat sich durch die verwendung eines aktuelleren flashtools erledigt.

ich starte von einer win98-startdiskette, diese ist allerdings von mir selbst erstellt und lädt einige sachen, das wirds dann wohl gewesen sein.
ist schon klar, daß ich das bios nicht im dos-fenster von windows flashen sollte.

Auf dem Motherboard sollte ein Jumper sein um ein Clear Cmos zu machen. Sollte das nichts bringen, dann hoffe ich du hast das alte bios gesichert.

Wenn ja, dann kopier es auf eine Diskette und benenne es in amibios.rom um.

Lege die Diskette ein und starte denn Computer neu.
Der sollte dann trotz dunklem Bildschirm auf das Disketten-LW zugreifen.

Warte bis sich nichts mehr rührt, schalt ab und wieder ein.
Dannn sollte er wieder laufen (wenn auch mit altem Bios).

hm, es gibt einen jumper, um das cmos-passwort zu löschen, aber das dürfte wohl der gemeinte sein, oder? einen anderen finde ich nicht.

das alte bios habe ich gesichert, allerdings wird nicht auf das floppy zugegriffen, wenn ich den kübel aufdrehe.

Hab mir denn Bios Update Guidde angesehen.
Da steht drinnen man soll die "ende" taste drücken (über den Pfeil-Tasten) und den PC einschalten, ansonsten kann es passieren, das der PC hängt (ist aber nur beim ersten mal nach dem Bios Flash notwendig.

If you are using an AMI BIOS, make sure to reboot the system holding the "END" key prior to power on until you enter CMOS setup. E.g. the PT-2200 has AMI BIOS.
If you played with the Flash EPROM Type jumper setting, check that it is set correctly for the EPROM chip installed on your board. Proper settings for some models is given below.
If you've damaged contents of your BIOS chip by using DMI Utility or performing an incomplete BIOS upgrade, you can try the the Boot Block Feature (it's a BIOS feature) to recover your system.
Try using an ISA VGA card and see wether that system will alow you to perform a Boot Block. The boot Block feature allows you to boot at least on Drive "A" for you to Re-program the BIOS using a Flash Utility. Download a BIOS and Flash Utility from our Web Site and try programming your BIOS again.

Steps to restore Boot Block BIOS:

1. Have a bootable diskette (c:> format a:/s) with three files: flash upgrade utility, a BIOS file, AUTOEXEC.BAT containing a line like: flashutility.exe biosfile.ext /Py /Sn

Example:
VL-603, Award BIOS 1.14in12.bin, flash utility flash613.exe:
Add the following line to autoexec.bat (note that /Py /Sn means Program=Yes, Save=No)
flash613 114in12.bin /Py /Sn

2. Boot the system from the bootable diskette containing the three files from Step 1. The system then runs flash utility according to the line in AUTOEXEC.BAT. Note that because Boot Block BIOS is small, it does not support PCI and AGP VGA graphics cards - it supports only ISA VGA cards. If you cannot find an ISA card for this procedure, you'll still be able to complete it, but without seeing anything on the screen.

You can also try to reset the CMOS by removing the CMOS battery for at least 2 minutes and try to short the negative and positive side of the battery socket by pressing it downward.

If you still cannot recover the BIOS, try to find a computer or electronics shop (or friend) who's got an EPROM programmer (EPROM burner) that can burn-in a BIOS file into the Flash EPROM chip for you. You will need to supply the old BIOS file (either get a backup file from a floppy or download the last working BIOS from the FIC Web site).

Finally, if you still cannot recover your BIOS, you can try to purchase a new Flash ROM chip (partially remove the sticker on your chip to find out the type/specs and try to find (don't forget to check Internet search engines like Yahoo) a shop that sells Flash ROM chips.* After you've got a new chip, follow the steps in the paragraph describing EPROM programming device (EPROM programmer). The ultimate failure in BIOS update is when Flash EPROM chip is soldered onto the board. In that case you will need to de-solder the chip and solder the new (or recovered) chip onto the board - note that this will definitively void the warranty so do not attempt to do it unless you are ready to bear all consequences of such action!


ich habe jetzt mal deine anweisungen befolgt (hab auch eine isa-vga-karte eingebaut), also mit der umbenennung des alten biosfiles in "amibios.ram" und zu booten versucht, ist nicht gegangen, es hat kein zugriff aufs floppy stattgefunden, trotz drücken der ENDE-taste.
dann habe ich das gemacht, was im darüberstehenden text steht, also über die autoexec.bat, das ging auch nicht, weil eben wieder kein floppyzugriff stattfand.

jetzt hab ich gerade eben die cmos-batterie rausgenommen, wie oben empfohlen wird und möchte die kontakte des batteriesockels kurzschließen. nur... soll ich das wirklich im ausgeschalteten zustand tun? weil wenn kein strom fließt, was bringt dann, v.a. wenn ich die batterie ja rausgenommen habe, ein kurzschluß? oder hat da vllt. irgendwo ein transistor spannung gepeichert, so daß ein kleiner strom fließen kann?

Umbedingt im ausgeschaltenem Zustand!
Sonst machst du einen Kurzschluß und der kann dir im schlimmsten FAll das Board zerstören.

Das Board ist nach ATX Standard soweit ich weiß. und da ist genug Saft auf dem Board (bei ATX steht das Board immer unter Spannung nämlich mit der +5V Standby Spannung, auch wenn es nur max. 2A sind).

habs schon gemacht (eh im ausgeschalteten zustand), hat leider auch nix gebracht.
ich fürchte das wars dann wohl mit dem board, es sei denn ich finde jemanden mit einem programmer.

Was ist wohl schiefgegangen?

hab die biosversion genommen, die masterkey mir empfohlen hat (soll natürlich kein vorwurf sein, also bitte nicht falsch verstehen!), aber ich hätte doch besser auf mein gefühl hören sollen und zuerst die aktuellste betaversion des bios für die pcb-version 1.1 nehmen sollen, denn für die gabs wenigstens ein wenig info dazu, wodurch doch gewährleistet war, daß diese sicher für dieses board bestimmt ist, bei der anderen stand gar nix.
