Neues PSS-A320 VFR-IFR Panel ist fertig !

Ich möchte mich für das kleine, wenn auch hervorraggende Panel Update von Bettina und Cartsten & Co. bedanken. Das ist wirklich klasse wie ich finde, aber lob habt ihr ja wie ich sehe schon genug.
Mal ne kleine Frage: Habt ihr Robert oder (Graham) von PSS mal gefragt wie die die Idee finden, bei PSS gibt es nämlich auch eine User-Ecke. Vielleicht finden sie die Idee ja auch ganz gut? Wer weiß?

Noch 7 Tage bis EW-PRO erscheinen soll, ob dass was wird ??????

ich möchte Euch von einem ähnlichen Erlebnis berichten:

Sicherlich ist den meisten von Euch die DC-3 R4D-6 von Jan Visser und Roy Chaffin bekannt. Dieses herrliche Flugzeug gibt es nun schon in der Version 4.75 für den FS2002, und aus der Freeware ist "Donationware" geworden. Bei der Qualität und einem Preis von lausigen $5 eigentlich nicht der Rede Wert zumal das Geld in die Restauration des Originals gesteckt wird. Lange Einleitung - worum geht's?

Will man sich den Vogel aus dem Netz laden, so muss man etliche einzelne zip Dateien herunterladen, entpacken (in der richtigen Reihenfolge!), dann hier ein Update, dort ein Update, dann noch eins für den Autopilot...kurzum, ein "Normaluser" ist ganz sicher mit dem Procedere überfordert.

Nun gibt es da aber noch die CD-Version. Mit komfortablem Installer.

Ist aber teurer, und muss umständlich bei einem Flugplatz in Pensillvania bestellt werden.

Ich habe mich dann hingesetzt und eine komfortable Installationsroutine selber gebastelt - es gäbe eine Downloadversion die aus einer einzigen exe Datei besteht die zudem kleiner als 30MB ist - ein Bruchteil dessen, was man sich unter aktuellen Umständen herunterladen muß. Der Installer findet sogar die richtigen Verzeichnisse ganz von allein, ein Mausklick und die DC-3 ist installiert. Mit folgender Mail setzte ich Roy Chaffin davon in Kenntnis:

I stumbled over quite a few people lately who seemed to be unable to install the latest version of the famous RD4 DC3 correctly due to the fact that a) they don't speak english very well and b) there is indeed a lot of downloading, file-moving and stuff to do to get everything right. Make one mistake, and you're out of the game.

I have therefore allowed myself to create an installer that will do the following:

- total size of download <30MB (the full aircraft package will be installed PLUS the Sperry autopilot upgrade!)
- the installer finds the correct installation path without user input required
- the latest version of the FSUIPC module (2.83) will be installed along with the complete FSUIPC zip file
- at the end of the installation process the user will be able to directly access the pdf manual AND to register his copy providing he has a valid unlock key -> it's all just one mouseclick away
- a new folder will be added to the startup menu containing links to the registration program, the pdf manual, the latest readme file, the Sperry autopilot help file and a link to the MAAM
- an uninstaller that removes all files *except* the FSUIPC module

Old files that are no longer required (the old manuals, checklists and stuff) have been removed.

The same kind of installer can easily be made for the UPGRADE.

Thanks for your email and for the good intentions you had.

Unfortunately the way the package is published by us, is quite deliberate. We have self installing EXE files that are on the CD we supply from MAAM that makes installation dead easy.

The downloadable version is deliberately more difficult to encourage people to buy the CD and raise more money for MAAM. which is our prime intention rather than making things easy for people that want it on the cheap.

Unbeknown to many, we are a fairly sizeable professional organisation that operates specifically to raise money for aviations charities and not for any other reason. Therefore we thank you for the idea, but must INSIST that your version is not distributed or made available to anyone in any way. This would directly break our copyright and take money away from our charity MAAM.

I hope now with this explaination you will have a greater understanding of the situation, and the reasons for what you see.

I am sorry you have gone to unnecessary work, on something that cannot be used, but wish you all the best for future ventures.

However as a foot note, we are always in the market for translations of our manual in other languages.

AHA! Die Downloadbare Version wird also ABSICHTLICH kompliziert gehalten damit die leute die teure CD kaufen! Na klasse! Diejenigen die sich nur den $5 Freischaltcode erstehen werden als "Schmarotzer" bezeichnet ("people that want it on the cheap"). Aha!

Ferner erfahren wir dass es niemals die Absicht von Visser und Chaffin gewesen ist irgendetwas anderes mit ihrem Projekt zu bewirken als Kohle für die Restauration von Flugzeugen zu sammeln - von wegen "für die FS Community" und so.

Freut mich dass ich Euch und der "Community" einen Blick auf das wahre Gesicht dieses Gentleman bieten kann.

Bettina & Co., willkommen im Club. Wenn schon normale User "wie Du und ich" den Developern den Angsschweiß auf die Stirn zaubern, dann sagt dass doch einiges über die Qualität dessen aus, was da verteidigt wird. Und über die Moral und wahren Beweggründe derer, die uns das Essen vorsetzen und auf unseren schweigsamen Konsum hoffen.

Ja da ist ein screen, allerdings in dem unkontrollierten Forum! Bei avsim und flightsim.com hab ich´s im download noch nicht gefunden. Ich war dort mal schnell um zu checken wie eure hervorragende Arbeit ankommt bzw. von pss angenommen wird. Wenn sie schlau sind machen sie ihren Airbus mit Hilfe eures Panels zum Verkaufsschlager. Mir gefällt er jedenfall so viel besser.
