ATR Engine Start Probleme

A truly unique feature of the ATR is the propeller brake which allows to use the right-hand engine just like an APU. It's usage is a bit tricky but here's how it works:

There are five pre-conditions:
- At least the battery must be on
- Blue hydraulics system pressurized
- Gust lock enabled
- Condition lever #2 set to FTR (Feather) or FSO (Fuel Shut Off)
- Aircraft is on the ground

If engine #1 is running and the blue hydraulics pump is switched on, the blue system is automatically pressurized. If no engine is running, the auxiliary hydraulics pump must be used. To start this pump, press the HYD AUX PUMP switch on the control stand (Shift+6). The pump will run for 30 seconds now.
If all pre-conditions are met, the green READY light next to the prop brake switch will be on. Now flip the switch to ON and the prop brake will be activated a few seconds later.

A few more interesting things:
- You pre-conditions for turning the prop brake off are the same as for turning it on.
- You can activate the prop brake while engine #2 is still off
- Since the propeller brake doesn't provide AC Wild power, it doesn't pressurize the blue hydraulics system. So to switch the prop brake off without any other AC Wild power source available, you need to use the auxiliary pump again.

NOTE: As on the real ATR, the Prop Brake only works with the right engine.
