mysql licencing!

hallo!

sicher habt ihr die diskusionen rund um die Umstelllung der Lizenzen von MySQL mitbekommen...

was ich jetz nichtt ganz verstehe.... darf ich auf meinem webspace mit mysql4 bei irgendeinem hoster nur mehr seiten hosten die open-source sind (wenn sie mysql4 verwenden)?

wäre ja ne sehr sehr schlechte nachricht...

Für eine Homepage ist es völlig egal.
Wichtig ist es, wenn du
.) Ein Programmierer bist und MySql verwendest. Dann müsstest du nach meinem Verständniss den Source mit dem Programm ausliefern. Du kannst das Programm trotzdem verkaufen, die GPL erlaubt das Verkaufen, du must nur den Sourcecode mitliefern

.) Wenn du eine HP baust, und die verkaufst, musst du dem Kunden (wieder IMHO) den Sourcecode mitliefern (kann man im weitesten Sinn als Software die ohne MySql nicht läuft interpretieren).
Da das ganze aber vermutlich PHP wird, kannst du's eh nicht kompiliert ausliefern.
Also kein Grund zur Panik.
An sich war die frühere Lizenz restriktiver.

Die Probleme mit den Lizenzen rund um MySQL haben nichts mit Deiner Homepage zu tun, sondern mit der GPL und der Inkompatibilitaet der MySQL und PHP Lizenz hierzu.

Das Problem bestand darin, dass es dieser Lizenzmischmasch unmoeglich machte, die MySQL Client-Libraries mit PHP auszuliefern, was dem Gespann das GEnick gebrochen haette.

MySQL AB hat aber mittleweile reagiert und entsprechende Ausnahmen geschaffen, sodass PHP weiterhin die MySQL-Bibliotheken mit ausliefern darf.

Dafuer gibt es die Creative Commons Lizenz, ueber die Du genau bestimmten kannst, wie die Inhalte Deiner Site weiterverwendet werden duerfen.
