WIN XP pro: "WIndows Update" funktioniert nicht mehr

Liebe Gemeinde,



ich wollte mal wieder das "Windows update" starten, um diverse Löcher und bugs zu beseitigen, nur gibt's folgendes Problem:

Windows update gestartet - es kommt die Meldung: "Neue Software für Windows Update erforderlich" - Klick auf "Jetzt aktualisieren" - der Browser schaltet ganz kurz auf ein neues Fenster um "Die aktualisierte Software wird von Windows Update gedownloaded und installiert" --->
ABER: es springt danach immer wieder ins Ausgangsfenster zurück und installiert nix!

Sorry - aber die Lösung lag in den englischsprachigen Support-Fragen:

Problem Description:
When attempting to access Windows Update, the page which directs you to update your Windows Update software is displayed. Clicking "Update Now" results in the same page being displayed, making it impossible to access the site.


Resolutions:
We are still researching this issue.

Some users have resolved this problem by following the steps below:

Close the browser
Delete IUCtl.dll and the IUEngine.dll from both the system32\dllcache and system32 directories.
Delete the string value “SelfupdateStatus” present in the HKLM\microsoft\windows\currentversion\windowsupdat e\IUcontrol key
Delete iuenginenew.dll if it exists

This may be resolved by downloading and installing new Windows Update site software. Follow the instructions in the article on manually installing the Windows Update software, located elsewhere on this page.

Close the browser

Delete your temporary Internet Cache.
1. Right click on the Internet Explore Icon
2. Click on Properties
3. Under the General tab please click on the Delete Files button.
4. Click Ok

Hallo!

Ich hab da jetzt auch so ein ähnliches Problem.
Ich vermute das mein Problem von einem unvollständigen Auto-Update resultiert. Seit dem Auto-Update diesen komulativirgendwas IE Patch samt Media Player 9 runterladen wollte und sich dabei im Nirvana aufgehängt hat, funktioniert mein Windows-Update nicht mehr.

Ich hab schon probiert das C:\Programme\Windows Update\ Verzeichnis zu leeren, den Temporary IE Cache zu löschen, WinXP Service Pack 1a zu reinstallieren aber nix hat bisher geholfen.

Ich hab auch all Deine Tipps probiert, ohne Erfolg.

Ich wäre für jede Hilfe dankbar.

PS: Was auch seltsam ist... seit Neuestem lädt die Windows-Update Seite in englischer Sprache. Früher war immer Deutsch als Standard.

Ja bei mir ist genau das gleiche. Nur eben in deutsch. Das Windows Update springt von 0% auf 100% und sagt keine Updates verfügbar. Dabei bleibt die Rubrik Windows grau und nix tut sich.
Ich hab ebenfalls probiert das Temporary Internet Files Verzeichnis zu leeren bzw. Das WindowsUpdate Verzeichnis zu löschen. Ohne Erfolg. Weiss bitte jemand Rat?
