![]() Servus!
I don't write in German very well, sorry - hopefully your English is better than my Wienerisch, lol! I have ALREADY ordered ADSL (from Telecom) - therefore, I no longer have a choice... my very BIG concern is your [benjy] statement regarding the fixed IP address... while having a fixed IP on the "network side" of a PC, I have to believe that the connection is still based on a dynamic IP address on the Telecom side, oder? Of course, I am NOT a network specialist - and I'm prety sure the Windows utility "winipcfg" will always return an IP of 10.0.0.140... BUT, the server you connect to should theoretically see a dynamic IP address established by Telecom. Example: The following site is a chat site for System Shock players - and it will return your dynamic IP address: http://www.gameblazer.com/games/sshock2/ss2chat1024v.mv I'm currently connected to an ISP using a [auto]dynamic IP addressing scheme and I get back a unique dynamic address from the above site; winipcfg (or SiSoft's Sandra) notifies me of a ip address = to the ISP gateway address. Would you be able to explain us in a little more technical detail (in German, of course ;-) why a ppp/pptp connection would not allow bi-directional communication between the ADSL user and a gaming server? As for the 1GB barrier, I could not agree more - that shit sucks. I'm "banking" on the fact that Telecom's [future] competitors will force them to raise this ridiculos limit! Gut, bis spater ![]() Traveller |
