WIN XP pro: "WIndows Update" funktioniert nicht mehr

Problem Description:
When attempting to access Windows Update, the page which directs you to update your Windows Update software is displayed. Clicking "Update Now" results in the same page being displayed, making it impossible to access the site.


Resolutions:
We are still researching this issue.

Some users have resolved this problem by following the steps below:

Close the browser
Delete IUCtl.dll and the IUEngine.dll from both the system32\dllcache and system32 directories.
Delete the string value “SelfupdateStatus” present in the HKLM\microsoft\windows\currentversion\windowsupdat e\IUcontrol key
Delete iuenginenew.dll if it exists

This may be resolved by downloading and installing new Windows Update site software. Follow the instructions in the article on manually installing the Windows Update software, located elsewhere on this page.

Close the browser

Delete your temporary Internet Cache.
1. Right click on the Internet Explore Icon
2. Click on Properties
3. Under the General tab please click on the Delete Files button.
4. Click Ok
