think I have found the reason why my system was always freezing.
It's a combination problem with the soundcard, video card and DirectX (DirectSound).
I discovered when I unplugged my soundcard, everything was OK no lock ups. It could not be an IRQ
problem because video and audio card have their own IRQ.
So the search went on ...
And here is what I found
In the DirectX diagnostic, go to the sound tab and put the slider to BASIC acceleration
Try it out u have nothing to lose ... anyway for me it worked fine.
