#9483, "A Note on Activation - From Microsoft"
Tue Oct-24-06 10:32 PM by fsfilmworks
Officially quoted from a source in Microsoft regarding hardware upgrades and activation...
"Most of the time modifying one or two pieces of hardware should not force a
re-activation. Also, there is provision for allowing you to re-activate
your copy of FSX on a new/upgraded machine occasionally. You could activate
on a new machine if you bought one today. And you could activate again (a
3rd time) if you upgraded to yet another machine after a fairly long period
of time.
The rare person who completely re-builds their machine very often will
probably end up having to call support to get running. But for the vast
majority of people, including enthusiasts who keep relatively up-to-date
with hardware, activation should be easy and painless."
