Yes i understand what you mean.

FDS have 3 kind of switches in that way:

1) the ones we use in our efis selectpanel this is a combination switch with illuminated led inside. This switch can be pushed but will not stay "down" so it only will give a short signal.

2) the K1 switch same as above but then used for our overhead where in our discussion before they also only will be possible to push but not stay "down"

3) the k1 switch that will stay "down" when you push it and will come up ones you push it again..

In all 3 cases it is the software what will decide how the switch will have to behave.. basic on startup they all OFF and when pushed they switch to ON or you switch out a function like a fault in your overhead logic.

Version 3 can be down and in this case the software also can see it as down what means that the function on startup could be ON or OFF depend on the function of the switch. This switch also give a visual look because it would be lower when pushed then for instance version 2.. but because it is almost not visual seen from above AND because the software and the function of the switch will already tell you what the status is of this switch it doesnt matter if you have it pushed "down" or "up" guess this is the advance of a A320 compair to a B737 where they still use the toggle switch while A320 show on each switch a burning text when a function is active or not.

And in the software you always can turn arround the function of the switch so ON could be OFF or OFF could be ON...

Hope this make any sense

gr.
