FSD, die größte Frechheit aller Zeiten

Habe FSD mal geschrieben mit der Bitte worum es genau geht, und daß ich solche Parktiken eigentlich ja nicht gut finde. Damit bin in deren Augen gleich jemand der Diebe unterstützt...

Hier das Schreiben:

Mr ....,

The person who posted the message in the forum had all FSD software
deactivated when a replacement FSD installer could not deal with data
corruption in the FSD Licensing system caused by the illegal use of a
KeyGen. The illegal software device he had used had corrupted both his
operating system and Licensing entries as a means to defeat Licensing. That
error message was sent it to us by him when he asked for assistance after
his software stopped working. When it was decoded, it showed what support
was needed and which Licenses had been corrupted, so we could ascertain what
repairs we had to assist him with. Unfortunately, the list of corrupt
Licenses included four titles he had no licenses for, which he had stolen
from us. Naturally, we are not prepared to support stolen software and we
politely asked him to pay for what he had stolen. Rather than accepting an
offer of amnesty, he chose to proudly proclaim he is a thief.

When invited to deal with the problem, he never responded to us. He is
clearly a dishonest person like the person who crested the illegal Licensing
tool is. It sounds very much to me from what you say that you believe having
a License for one product entitles him a user to steal another four. He is
not entitled to steal. It is not his right to steal. It is however,
reasonable for a thief to realise he is running a risk by stealing and sop
he was caught, unexpectedly, when we were trying to assist him.

It is a fact of life that theft is a serious matter. You seem to disagree.
You seem to think theft is OK and should attract no penalty. You seem to
think he should have us support his repairs so he can use both the one title
he purchased and the others he did. Look, Mr Timm, people who commit a
crime generally will suffer the consequences. The simple fact is that this
individual stole from us, and now the legacy of his dishonesty is that he
cannot use any FSD software legally OR illegally.

He may now reasonably wonder, as we know his true identity and the extent of
his dishonesty, if his personal details will now appear on a shared software
developers list which is maintained as a result of several anti-theft
initiatives by software developers who will not tolerate theft and
dishonesty. You may have read of one such recent initiative at Avsim - you
should look for mention of it on the front page. If people are found to be
thieves, or if they are detected redistributing stolen software or License
data, they can be reasonably confident their actions will be made known to
other software developers unless they deal with the matter honourably.

In this case, unexpected and unintended technical consequences were the end
result for this theft. Had this thief chosen instead to deal with the matter
honourably, as we offered him the chance to do, we would have assisted him
fix the problem. And then we would have promptly forgotten about it. Any
inconveniences or consequences that may arise for him are as a direct result
of his dishonesty.

You would be well advised that we will not tolerate theft or dishonesty. I
suggest you should be concerned more about theft that suggesting,
incorrectly, we collect data on any user. We do not collect any data, we
have no interest in it. All we are interested in doing is providing the very
best support we can to our valued honest customers.

I do not believe there is anything more I can usefully add to this
discussion.
