AMD is increasing the thermal margin on the AMD Athlon 1100MHz processor by raising the die temperature specification from 90°C to 95°C. This change is to compensate for the recent increase in the thermal power numbers for the AMD Athlon 1100MHz processor (ACN #2072). See below for details:


Product Identification: AMD-Athlon Processor

Package Types: Socket A PGA

AMD Product Line: CPG (Computation Products Group)

Description of Change: 1) Specification for the AMD Athlon 1100MHz Die Temperature rating will be changed from 90°C to 95°C.

2) The product marking on the processor will change:
From: A1100AMT3B, where T = 90°C
To: A1100AMS3B, where S = 95°C

Reason for Change: To keep the current list of AMD recommended thermal solutions for 1100MHz prior to the increase in thermal power. (See: www1.amd.com/products/athlon/thermals for the most current list.)


Application Impact: For customers using AMD recommended thermal solutions that were previously rated for 1100MHz, this change will allow all of these solutions to continue to be viable for 1100MHz.
