after UPC digital tv, chello not working on wireless

Hello,

I write in english, sorry, my german is still not good.

I live in Vienna. I have a netgear wireless router at home that I used without problems with chello (upc) since 3 years.

One month ago I bought a new upc package including digital tv, and they changed my modem. After this, I'm not anymore able to connect to the internet through my wireless router.

The laptop's mac address is copied to the router basic config as usual, but the router is never able to receive an IP address from DHCP.

If I try to connect my laptop to the modem, I'm able to receive the ip and to get to the web without problems.

I tested another netgear router, but I had the same problem.

Is it possible that chello is using something else than mac address to check which device is connected?

Any clue?

Your Chello IP should be static, there is no need for DHCP. Try to enter your IP and forget about Chello DHCP, works fine for me.

Or maybe the new modem is now set to use USB insted of the lan port.

Hi Umberto,

witch kind of modem did you get?
I know that some netgear-equipment get confused when you use the same MAC-Adress two times - that means on WAN an LAN together. It's just a guss, but you can try to change the MAC on your Laptop and see what happens. I don't use UPC-Digital but on normal Chello-Accounts, UPC just register a particular MAC and that's it. If it don't works then let me know.

Thanks Igor, with manually entered IP it worked! I didn't know chello is assigning static IPs.

Funny, for 3 years with the old modem and same router it was working fine with DHCP.

Very well, now I'm back with the laptop in the bed

thanks, I was able to solve it using a manually entered IP. I'm using this router since 3 years, and it has no problem using the same mac address on both router and laptop.

Ok, great - it happens sometimes, that the DHCP-Service from Chello is down. Because the Chello-DHCP is weak i use static Adressing since i use chello so i thought your Config is static as well.
