"Solution ID: 8772
TITLE: MS Outlook: Attachment files appear as a winmail.dat file, rather than a *.doc file SYNOPSIS: Microsoft's Knowledge Base states that winmail.dat will appear in a recipients e-mail whenever a user attaches a file in Outlook 97 or Outlook 2000 and is configured using Outlook Rich Text Format. SOLUTION: The problem most probably is that Outook is configured to send attachments as Microsoft Outlook Rich Text Format instead of Plain Text. Other e-mail clients such as Netscape and Eudora cannot handle TNEF format. To change this setting, click on the Tools pull-down menu and select Options. Click on Mail Format, then Message Format. Change format to Plain Text from Microsoft Outlook Rich Text Format. Please refer to this Microsoft article regarding Office 2000 e-mail settings: http://support.microsoft.com/support.../Q241/5/38.ASP Outlook Express has no option for Rich Text Format (only HTML or Plain Text) so this e-mail application would not cause this trouble." deja.com ist schon was tolles *g* hth --qu |
