Low visibility landings in Category II or III operations shall not be conducted unless: - The aeroplane concerned is certificated for operations with decision heights below 200 ft, or no decision height, and equipped with the systems required for operations as certified by the Authority - DH must be determined by means of a radio altimeter - To maintain the safety of operation it is required to report any failure of approaches by using an CAT II/III monitoring form - Specific approval/authorization for CAT II and III operations is granted by the Authority - The flight crew consists of at least 2 pilots (both must be qualified for LVP) - Landing is carried out by the Captain (ist bei EW so, kann bei anderen airlines anders sein) - The commander has satisfied himself that the status of the visual and non-visual facilities is sufficient prior to commencing a Category II or III approach. - LVP are in force A CAT II approach must not be continued below DH and a go-around shall be commenced unless visual reference containing a segment of at least 3 consecutive lights of: - the centre line of the approach lights, or - the touch down zone lights, or - the runway centre line lights, or - the runway edge lights or a combination of these is attained and can be maintained. The visual reference must include a lateral element of the ground pattern, i.e. an approach lighting crossbar or the landing threshold or a bar of the touchdown zone lighting.
