Und manchmal muss man erst in der ~/.bash_profile das Sourcen der .bashrc freigeben
.
Wenn dein Bashprompt auch bunt sein soll, würde ich mich mit Escapecodes auseinandersetzen, mein Eintrag in der .bashrc für meinen Prompt sieht so aus:
PS1='\[\033[1;33m\]\u@\h:\w$\[\033[1;37m\] '
