Promise Technology, Inc. officially supports RedHat Linux 6.2 and 7.0.
Available starting November 10, 2000, FastTrak™ users will be able to download
RedHat 6.2 and 7.0 loadable driver modules for uni-processor and SMP systems.
For advanced users, partial source files are available to compile with most every
distribution of Linux using 2.1 or 2.2 based kernels.1
With this release of the FastTrak™ Linux support, users will be able to take full
advantage of Promise’s traditional performance and fault tolerance using RAID 0
(striping for stellar performance), RAID 1 (mirroring for mission critical data
security), and RAID 0+1 (a striped mirrored set; outstanding performance with
complete fault tolerance –the best of both worlds). For the mission critical
applications where down time is non-existent, Promise also offers Hot-Swap
support with this Linux release.2
