In the event of a missed approach or balked landing, a turn must be executed in sufficient time to REMAIN CLEAR OF P-56.

Kapitel Balked Landing (GO-AROUND)

The reasons why one might execute a balked landing are too numerous to list herein. Suffice it to say that the pilot needs to be CONSTANTLY AWARE OF THE FLIGHT ENVIRONMENT AND SITUATION, and be COMPETENT IN, AND MENTALLY READY FOR, THE TRANSITION FROM THE APPROACH MODE TO THE CLIMB MODE whenever such conditions warrant.
.......
We usually visualize a balked landing occurring during the last portion of the final approach. In the real world, however, most balked landings are begun well before the airplane crosses the threshold of the runway. Many are initiated while on the downwind or base legs of the traffic pattern. Our mental preparation for this maneuver will start with being aware of whether or not we will need to add power during our balked landing.
