set verträgt sich nicht mit IFS
ich verwend jetzt statt set awk und voila, es geht:
FQHN=`nslookup -sil "$HOSTNAME" | grep "Name:" | awk '{print $2}'`
bzw.
FQHN=`nslookup $HOSTNAME | awk '/Name:/{print $2}'`
