I agree with you. Custom made products are very expensive in every business. But making series is different. The clocks from the dutch producer should be six time cheaper to be in a "real" price range.

I guess you are referring to Flight Illusion.
Their Boeing style chronograph is 278 euros including Mehrwertsteuer.
So what they are actually getting for it is around 230 euros.
6 times cheaper ?
THATS 38 EUROS !!!!
You cant be serious about that !
They outsource most of the parts like the bezels. The miniature stepper motors cost almost that !
Then the pcb, small parts, digits, etc.
cost price of that clock just in parts to put it together would be 100 euro's at least....
And now im not calculating the labour of the engineer who designed them, the programmer who makes the software, and the guy who puts them together....plus development costs in general for the outsourced parts.
230 euros alot of money....yes.....
can it be done cheaper...i dont think so....not when you try to run a company.....not when you have loans running on investments.....not when you have banks calling for their money.....not when you have a support department running for all the people that dont know where to stick a usb plug or dont know how to read a pdf manual.....
btw...i just looked up the price of the real clock on the boeing parts list. starts at 10K going up...depending on the model...;-)
