Just my 2 cents worth.
I use phidgets currently and I find them trouble free and very nice to interface.
I wired up a couple of annunciators and some potentiometers to darken/brighten my EICAS displays and it took me all of 10 minutes to connect the components to the phidgets board (8/8/8 board) and the interfacing with flight simulator couldn't be easier.!!!
Alan Dyer I believe has written a program called FS2Phidgets which allows you simply to assign functions from a dropdown list.... click the function you want eg nav light on/off and assign to an output on the board and bingo it works straight away.
Most of the hard work with common offsets has been done for you in the background so by selecting the function from the lists in FS2Phidgets, the correct offset is set .
I also agree with Brad ...I'm from Australia as well and evrything here is pretty expensive but for the quality of the phidgets gear it is worth it.
