Wenn Du VFR unterwegs bist, dann machst Du normalerweise ja eh eine Platzrunde. Da reichen 10 nm Entfernung locker aus.
Wenn Du IFR unterwegs bist, dann weist Dir die ATC schon früher einen Anflug zu und teilt Dir das auch mit. Das tut aber die ATC und nicht ATIS!
