If a climb is required, the A/T sets power to the maximum available (based on TRP selection) and the AFDS pitches up to maintain the selected airspeed. If a descent is required, the A/T sets the power to IDLE and enters a throttle hold (THR HOLD) mode while the AFDS pitches down to maintain the selected airspeed. The throttle hold mode disconnects the autothrottle from the power levers which allows the pilot to manually control thrust during the descent.

Er setzt den Thrust
vorher auf Idle, geht aber dann auf THR HOLD.
