How to Record a Linked Multisession Disc
The exact procedure for recording in multiple sessions and linking data between the sessions depends on which software you're using: Easy CD Creator Toast Making a Linked Multisession Disc with Easy CD Creator To write the first session, follow the instructions in the online help for writing a data CD. When you are ready to add another session, put the disc back in the drive, then either open the same CD layout you used the first time for this CD, or start a new one, and drag and drop the new files/directories into the Data CD Layout tab. There are two ways to link your new files to those in a previous session: Select "Automatically import previous session" in File | CD Layout Properties | Data Settings. This will automatically import the file system information from the previous session, and link it with the new files you are now adding to disc. Select Disc | Import Session. This will display a dialog box showing all sessions already recorded on the disc; select the session you want to link to. Finish recording your disc as usual. Making a Linked Multisession Disc with Toast To write the first session, follow the instructions in the manual for writing an ISO CD. For maximum compatibility, choose CD-ROM XA from the settings tab in the ISO format. When you are ready to add another session, put the disc back in the drive. Choose ISO 9660 as the format and click the Data... button. Click on the small pop-up menu with the triangle on it in the lower right corner of the data window (just above the Done button). Select Import Session. Highlight the last session on the disc, select Merged and click Ok. The files in the previous session will be shown in the data window. You can now drag additional data to the data window to be written to the disc. Note that the data from the old session is not actually copied to the disc again, the disc will just have links back to this previous data so that it will all show up when the disc is mounted. |
