FSBUS: 2 Keycards on bus problem!

Hi!

On my 737 Overhead system I have 3 FSBUS DO cards and 2 Key cards. All DO cards are working OK. If I connect only 1 Keycard (ID3 or ID4) that too is working OK. BUT if I connect both Keycards only 1 (ID4) is working but the ID3 card only sends 1/3 of the keypresses!

I have tested with only the 2 Keycards connected to the COM with a short cable but same problem.

Any hints/help on this issue would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Ole,

this is NO issue of cable length nor of a compatibilty problem woth FS DO board.

I definitely works in the configuration you have mentioned - try to flash your PICs again - maybe using differnt ID´s

I dont think it is compability with the DOs. I have the same problem with short cable to the (old) COM card with only the 2 Key cards connected. I have tried to re-flash them both. The strange thing is that when only 1 of them is connected they both function perfectly as ID 3 or 4. Would it be an idea to replace the PIC?? Or maybe it doesnt seem nessecary since they both work when alone on the bus?

Thanks for your answers!

I have tried flashing them with ID1 and ID2 and then both work at the same time. I have Key with ID1 behind the MIP and ID2 in the pedestal but those are not connected at the moment.

Does anybody know if FSRouter require Key with ID1 connected if other Key cards are connected?

By the way, all cards including COM are the "old" version from last year.

you can use the IDs as you like

the IDs 1 to 7 are reserved for inputs though (FSKEY)

Do they work without the FSDO ???

Maybe you try flashing all the OUTPUT boards with ID larger than 7

But is should not affect it really.

Ole - i guess there is something wrong with one of the controllers - only a small item.

Please remove ALL the othe boards and start with the 2 Key controllers all over - if necesssary connect them to different ports on the COM interface, maybe even change the cables.

If there is no success use the PICs from trhe DO board (re flash them of course !)

good luck

Really appreciate your help, Mathias!

There is no difference if the DOs are connected or not. Only issue is with the Key cards. If the Keycards are flashed with ID3 and ID4 the ID3 card is "unstable" - FSRouter only register some of the Keypresses. ID4 is OK. But if the ID3 card is connected without the ID4 card it works OK! I have tried a new PIC for the ID3 card. No matter if DOs are connected or not. If the Key cards are flashed ID1 and ID2 they both work OK! No matter if DOs are connected or not. Strange isn't it? It looks to me (like you say) there is an issue with the ID# beeing used. The DOs on the overhead are ID10,13,14. You say ID1-7 is reserved for Key cards! I was not aware of that. I have a LED controller with ID 7 (pedestal) in the FSRouter-program but not connected. Could that be the reason??
Anyway I'll try with an empty FSRouter file this evening.

Hi Ole,

it seems to be a signal problem.

You can try following changes:
COM R3 1K: try a 10k instead

Another try:
leave the controllers connected, but disconnect the key cables from the working controller. Then test, if the problem on the other controller remains.

Let's see what happens.

Thanks, Dirk!

I am currently on a business trip. Will try the things you suggested when I get home next week!
btw: Can you confirm that ID1 to 7 is reserved for Key (inputs) ?

Hi Ole,

1-7 is only a recommendation, not more. There are dependencies in timing which depend on that number, but that must not be the reason for your problems (hopefully).
