Fsbus Com 2

Hello,

Did build the new fsbus com 2 board today and result is showing under..http://www.planesonline.nl/images/PIC00228.JPG

But..
There seems to be something wrong and DIRK i need your help in this!!
The board seems to work fine with the fskey it send the signal and when i turn my rotery it change value and the led(green)burns quick on the movements when i turn the rotery..

BUT there is not any connection to the FSadmin!! no yellow led burns nothing at all with any bridge with pin 4 - 10...

What i only notice is that when i touch with my finger the 74C04N(N1-N6) suddenly both leds (green and yellow) burn.. when i take the finger off they out again.. it is on all the pins on the side of yellow led that cause this..

What is wrong???

Hope you will help me out on this one Dirk.

gr.

Frans M

PS.. what i also dont understand in the program of FSadmin is that even when i dont connect anything to my com1 it just say COM1 open..

Hi,

maybe you should consider control the IC's soldering and the conductor paths on your PCB.... maybe you have a cold soldering or you close a short circuit when pressing the IC.... or are the LEDs lighting up when you touch the metal pins of the IC?

I built my COM-board on thursday, but I need a new converter from USB to COM 'cause the old one got damaged....
As soon as I can get my FSBUS-NG running I'll check all this, also the things you mentioned with FSADMIN...

best regards,
Chris

Led (the yellow) one light up when i touch a pin on the 74HC04

Also dont get a quick flash on that one when i connect the power but i do get a flash on the green one also the fskey works here .. fsled doesnt seems to work only let all the leds burn on it...

I am sure something is not ok just no idea what...

OK have the FSBUS COM 2 to work :D (echo test flashes the leds no errors)

Next step is that flashing part with the pony software... i wonder if this first need new fskey /fsled ect boards or can i also flash the old boards?

They dont response now on the FSadmin program but they work all fine in the fsrouter..

Also dont understand that fsbus cable of 6.. i notice i also have those 6 pins on my fskey but if i connect it to the fscom and run that pony and try to read something it say until now device unknown or no device there... (the only thing i see is the yellow led flashing)

Maybe it is standing in the PDF of dirk but that is only in german and i miss the part of how to flash the OLD boards with the new FScom unless this is not possible and i need new boards or so?

Wonder who helps me out...

The old version uses PIC-Microcontroller, the new one ATMEL!! THESE ARE TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT COMPONENTS!

Never try to flash one of the old PICs with the new board and vice versa.... this will not work ;)

Once programmed, you can use the old modules with the new com-board, but I guess best is not to mix them up....

Programming the Hardware of the new system is completely different from the first generation, always think of that!

Thanks...

And how do i get the new boards than??

Or do i need to put other things in my old boards?

And what you mean with programmed???

With "programming the hardware" I meant flashing the microcontroller....

And the new boards, well, we are all waiting for Dirk to release them.... they will be more or less the same, some small but significant changes....

E.g.,there will be one board which contains Inputs, Outputs (LED) and Analog...

So, you CAN use your old boards, if the PICs on them are flashed... but whan you want to take full advantage of the new COM-board, you'll have to wait until the other new boards are released.

Chris
