Was soll ich aufrüsten?
 

Hallo,

ich habe einen AMD 1,4 GHZ, 128 MB- DDR- Ram und ner GeForce 2 MX 400.

Jetzt meine Frage:
Soll ich Grafikkarte oder Ram aufrüsten und welche Grafikkarte soll ich mir kaufen (sollte nicht über 280 Euro kosten, habe die Raedon 8500 im Auge).

Hallo Michael,

wenn du nur 280€ ausgeben willst, behalte deine Grafikkarte und kaufe 512 MB DDR, bingt das meiste.

Im vorliegenden Fall ist die RAM-Aufrüstung zu empfehlen !!!!

Würde dir auch zu einer ram Aufrüstung raten. Wenn du einen großen Leistungsschub willst, kannst du dir sicherlich eine GaKa leisten. Ist halt immer eine frage des Geldbeutels.

Bei deinem System hat eine RAM-Aufrüstung höchste Priorität.
Iche würde noch einen 512er dazustecken.

RAM sind ja schön und gut, nur sollte man erwähnen, das Windows nicht mit mehr als 512MB umgehen kann.

Windows 9x/ME hat bis einschliesslich 768 MB RAM keine Probleme, man sollte aber ein wenig in der [vcache] Abteilung von der System.ini konfigurieren um optimale Ergebnisse zu erzielen.

Oder am besten vorher gleich auf Windows2k oder WindowsXP umsteigen, dann gibts so wie bei mir mit 896 MB RAM auch keine Probleme :D

Hm, da werde ich mir wohl noch einen 512 MB RAM- (Riegel) zulegen.
Noch ne Frage: Wie sieht denn das mit dem RAM bei XP aus (läuft es gut mit mehr als 512 MB RAM).

Ich wundere mich, dass so viele Empfehlungen ausgegeben werden, ohne dass überhaupt ein Problem geschildert wurde.

MS hat selber zugegeben, daß DOS+GUI (aka Win9x) Probleme mit RAM>512 MB haben kann (s. hierzu z.B. http://support.microsoft.com/search/...w.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q253912 )

Die NT-Systeme (also auch Win2000 und XP) haben diese DOS-Krücke nicht und laufen mit mehr Arbeitsspeicher.

MS hat eine knowlegebase, gebt einfach mal z.B. "RAM" und "512" ein um Artikel zu Win98 zu erhalten.

Angeblich soll Win9x auch Probleme mit dem Cachen von Arbeitsspeicher > 512 MB haben und dadurch dann langsamer werden, hier bin ich aber nicht sicher ob es nur ein Gerücht ist.

Fazit: Ram > 512 MB -> NT

Man muß halt nur darauf achten, daß das Board auch den gewähltn Speicherriegel verträgt. Nicht jedes Board kann etwas mit 512MB-Riegeln anfangen (z.B. beim Intel BX-Chipsatz wie bei mir - ist halt zu alt).

Seit der Installation von XP hatte ich bisher nur 1x Probleme mit der Stabilität: Auf meinem System läuft der Detonator 23.11 nicht, ansonsten bisher keine Abstürze.

Die Speichernachrüstung war völlig problemlos.
