battery empty after a while
 

Hello all,

hopefully sombody can help me, i downloaded a A300 with a panel that simulates the whole powercircuits of a A300.

For this, in the aircraft.cfg is written:

[ELECTRICAL]
electric_always_available=1

Nevertheless FS9 ignores this and battery is empty after about 10min.

Maybe somebody had this issue before and has a idea why the battery is going empty even if i have that lines in the aircraft.cfg?

i have the A300B4-2C Airbus and panel from Benoit Gaurant, downloaded from avsim.com.

If you search for Benoit Gaurant you'll find it, and also a documentation which includes that it is very important to have
electric_always_availble on 1, and i have it on 1, nevertheless the batteries run low.

It's a3bgtv30.zip

The entry electric_always_available in the aircraft.cfg will not prevent the battery from draining.

According to the SDK This flag enables electrical power regardless of the state of the battery or circuit.

The only way to prevent the battery from draining is through a registered version of FSUIPC. (but this would be a cheat;) ).

The battery is supposed to provide the aircraft with electrical power until you start the APU or the engines and supply electrical power through the generators.

You could also connect to an external ground supply (if available).

And that is exactly the problem, battery is running low even if i have connected external power, also if i have the APU running and APU generator turned on, and the most strange thing, even if i have the both engines running and Gen1 and Gen2 turned on, the power is cutted off after a while...

I fear more and more that this is just a problem of the aircraft model or panel i've downloaded, but that would be a pitty because except that problem i find it very very great.

...one more thing, when you say this flag enables eletrical power regardless to the state of the battery or circuit, wouldn't this mean that i would need to have power even if the battery is empty?

I found the mistake. The entry should be
electrical_always_available=1

I hope this helps because I don't have this aircraft installed and could not check this out.

I think this entry causes the battery to provide electrical power even if it's empty. This is not very realistic, but Benoit wrote that this entry is necessary.

Well, that's exactly how I would interpret it.

You could download the Aircraft SDK and have a look at the electrical section. Maybe the entry engine_generator_map is wrong.

...i've tried electric_always.... and i tried electrical_always....
both did not help, i tried to put it at the beginning of the .cfg file, i tried it at the end, i really tried 1000 things...when i started a new flight with a default 737 and then changed over the "select aircraft" menu to the A300, it was working for a long while and i was happy already, but then after a half hour or so, in the middle of the flight, it was happening again...but i wonder why it takes much longer this way until power is cut off, than starting directly a flight with the A300???

Actually it wouldn't be a problem if the engines and Gen1 and Gen2 would feed the battery, but they don't, power is cut off even with running engines and generators turned on, the same for the APU and external power source. :(

btw, i did not found a entry "engine_generator_map" in the .cfg file...

Hmm ... I think I could not help anymore.

If you have a registered FSUIPC installed you can generally set the battery empty time to infinite under the technical tab.

If not I hope that anyone else could help here.

Well, you don't have to buy it, although I would recommend it.

If the entry engine_generator_map is missing, then by default all engines have an alternator/generator. That's O.K.

Cax.... have you ever tried the A300 from the hnac.org website? Excellent FDE and Panel!

@thscholz: Mag sein, dass es lt. SDK so ist. In der Anleitung von besagtem Benoit Gaurant steht es aber als electrical_...

Deswegen sollte er das mal ausprobieren. Man will doch nix unversucht lassen.

Hast schon recht, auch wenn ich mir nicht vorstellen kann, dass der Author die aircraft.cfg direkt ausliest. Da vermute ich eher einen Schreibfehler.

P.S.: Wozu gebe ich meinen Namen an, wenn ich dann mit meinem Kürzel angesprochen werde?

Nein Thomas, nix Schreibfehler! Hier sogar ein Originalauszug aus der aircraft.cfg des SGA A300B4:
Wie man sieht, steht das so drin. Ich habe mir nämlich für diesen Thread die Files gleich mal von AVSIM gezogen und dort den Fehler gesucht, den caxacix gemacht hat.

Interessant ist allerdings das bei mir in der [electrical] section
nur diese eine Zeile steht, waehrend bei Dir ne ganze Menge mehr steht.

Hast Du die files fuer FS2002 oder FS2004 gezogen, ich hab die fuer 2004.

Marc, ich hab mal Deine Screenshots angeschaut, die Condor Boeing 767-300 und das Panel sehen ja mal auch sehr interessant aus, wo gibts das denn?

Interessant, dass da angeblich nichts weiter stehen soll. Das stammt nämlich aus dem von AVSIM gezogenen Update dieses Fliegers (Datei a300b4fdv2.zip). Ich habe da nix verändert. :confused:

Thomas, ich glaub Du hast bei avsim die Files fuer FS2002 runtergeladen, da gibt es zwei Versionen, eine Version 2 fuer FS2002 (wo's auch noch nen Patch gibt um das in FS2004 nutzen zu koennen) und dann gibt's aber noch Version 3, die richtig fuer FS2004 ist.

Ok ok, ich habe da doch was durcheinander gebracht. Die Sortierung bei AVSIM ist immer etwas durcheinander. Daher dachte ich, dieses Update wäre für die Grundversion, die ich auch runtergeladen habe. Aber das war schon V3.

ich habe jetzt mal electric_always_available=1 bei der aircraft.cfg der default Cessna172 reingeschrieben, und siehe da,
da funktioniert es auch nicht, kann Strom ganz normal ein und ausschalten und nach 10min. ist alles dunkel. :confused:

Der Thomas Scholz hat's ja schon auf englisch geschrieben!! Das ist ein Bug im FS!! Die Variable funktioniert nicht!!

Daher gibt's bei FSUIPC diese Schaltfläche!!

Ich hätte aber ein anderes Panel für dich. Optisch nicht so schön, vom technischen aber - denke ich - ziemlich interessant.
