Also von dem Catalyst 10.7 kann ich nur sehr abraten!

Habe heute versucht auf meinen beiden C2EE Systemen den Catalyst upzudaten (vom 10.2 auf den 10.7), das war ein schwerer Fehler.

Beim einen System (dem kleinen C2EE):
-Windows Vista Ultimate 64Bit
-QX9650 @ 3.66GHz
-X38 Chipsatz
-8GB RAM
-ATi Radeon HD3870

Hier führte das Update auf den 10.7 dazu, dass eine graphiklastige Anwendung (Farbrausch "fr-041_debris.exe" mit 1680x1050 und alles aufs Max.), welche aber auf dem 10.2 absolut problemlos und ruckelfrei lief, nun gewaltig ruckelt!!

Fazit: gewaltiger Performance-Verlust!!


Beim anderen System (dem grossen C2EE):
-Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit
-QX9650 @ 3.66GHz
-X38 Chipsatz
-8GB RAM
-ATi Radeon HD5970

Hier konnte man nach dem Update den Farbrausch erst garnichtmehr ausführen, es folgte immer einen BSOD!! Und das, obschon man dieses Programm (Farbrausch "fr-041_debris.exe" mit 1920x1200 und alles aufs Max.) mit dem 10.2 problemlos und absolut ruckelfrei betreiben konnte.

Fazit: System-Crash!!

Das darf ja wohl nicht wahr sein, schon der 10.1 Catalyst war so ein riesen Griff ins Klo, jetzt schon wieder! Was läuft da bitteschön schief!
Zum Glück hatte ich ein Image von vor dem Update. Das ist doch echt das letzte.

Hier noch ein BSP. des BSOD's:

Schwerwiegender Hardwarefehler.

Gemeldet von Komponente: Prozessorkern
Fehlerquelle: Ausnahme bei der Computerüberprüfung
Fehlertyp: Bus-/Verbindungsfehler
Prozessor-ID: 3

Und das über alle Prozessor-ID's. Das miese daran ist, man kommt nicht sofort auf den CCC, weil es aussieht wie ein Problem der CPU/Bus. Aber es ist der CCC, denn erst seit dieser upgedated war, lief nichts mehr.

Also besser auf die CCC Version 10.8 warten/hoffen!!

kann das auf meinem system nicht nachvollziehen ...

Weder auf meinem HTPC, noch auf meinem Laptop (jeweils mit ATI Chipsatz + Grafik) gibt es ähnliche Probleme. Läuft alles, wie es sein sollte.

PS: Ist dieses debris eine OpenGL Anwendung? Damit dürfte es anscheinend Probleme geben.

hab gerade vor ein paar tagen alle amd/ati-systeme auf den 10.7 aktualisiert und kann die fehler auch nicht nachvollziehen

Das könnte sehr gut sein, bin mir da jetzt aber nicht 100% sicher. Wie könnte ich das überprüfen? Werde dem aber jetzt gleich mal nachgehen. ;)

Nur, das ist ja eigentlich wurst, denn im 10.2 lief es problemlos und dann im 10.7 nichtmehr? Das dürfte ja auch nicht sein.

Jedenfalls, auf dem grossen C2EE System habe ich jetzt wieder den 10.2 drauf und auf dem kleinen C2EE System, da es da ja wenigstens nicht gerade gecrashed ist, habe ich immernoch den 10.7 drauf. Aber der Performance-Verlust schmerzt schon, erst recht, da ja die HD3870 auch nichtmehr Power zu verschenken hat.

AMD/ATI haben Catalyst 10.8 (25.08.) released ...

Für alle (Desktop) XP's, Vista's und Windows7 Versionen (32-/64-Bit) und auch einen "AGP Hotfix Treiber" für AGP-Karten.

Hier gibt's einen "ATI Catalyst™ Mobility Display Driver", aber nur für Vista/Win7 64-Bit!

(Um die vorige Nachricht zu Vervollständigen! ;) )

Ab dem kommenden Catalyst 10.9 wird der Treiber auch über Steam vertrieben, also jeder der Steam hat und eine ATI/AMD GPU wird ein automatisches Update bekommen.



Also ich finde es gut, solange man die Updatefunktion auch ausstellen kann. Was denkt ihr?

Ich halte generell nicht viel von Auto-Update, weder von ATi noch von Microsoft noch von sonst was. Darum ist bei mir auch das einzige Program, welchem ich Auto-Update erlaube, das AVG Free Edition Antivirus-Programm.
