Please, anyone who has fully running FSBus NG cockpit, write complete data about boards (COM, I/O and DISPLAY). I mean the boards numbers (i belive it's like the release date) and the current version of programs to flash on Atmega, and FSBus Admin and FSRouter (or release date). I suspect that most of problems are based on uncompatibility between programs released in different time periods. This will help in further works and will solve some problems.
PLEASE DO NOT NEGLECT THIS POST! DO YOUR BEST ! THIS WILL HELP MANY SIMBUILDERS IN FUTURE ! ! Best regards - Pawel Debski, Poland. |
Hi Pawel,
the software versions of FSBus are rather few and hence there has not been any major problem with compatibility. Believe me, if FSBus doesn´t run from the beginning it is mostly due to faulty hardware. Especially the soldering is one of the numerous reasons. (Board´s cupper side not polished before soldering) On top of all, due to the quite sophisticated single layer print layout the etching process is rather demanding and very often you get either short circuits or interruptions on the board as result. This applies also to some commercially available boards for FSBus. Therefor every one should carefully check the boards (visually with a magnifyer glass and electrically with an ohm meter) prior to assembly. FSBus circuitry and also software is running if before stated precautions have been applied. Best rgds Peter |
FSBUS Compatible ...
There are two types af Hardware for FSBUS:
- The Classic types with the PIC Microcontrollers. This type of hardware is not serviced anymore! - The NG (New generation) types with the Atmels In the NG types there was only one important modification made on the IO cards ... that is Jumper 16! This was done on the eind of 2005. If you have a PCB without this Jumper I advise you to modify the PCB with that Jumper (easy to do with a 'Home Builded' Card). The jumper must be set during configuration with FSADMIN! All NG harware is compatible with the upcoming FSBUS CDK software! The DO64 PCB (64 Led's) is only compatible with the new software! regards, Rob |
