The Matrix Reloaded Explodes at the Box Office!

The Coming Soon! Box Office Report has been updated with this studio's weekend estimates. Stay tuned there for the final figures on Monday afternoon.

Warner Bros.' R-rated The Matrix Reloaded exploded onto the scene last Wednesday night and took in another $93.3 million from Friday to Sunday to make it a total of $135.8 million for the four days. With Wednesday night previews included, "Reloaded" ($42.5 million) beat the opening day record set by Sony's Spider-Man ($39.4 million) last May. Spider-Man still holds the record for best day in box office history, earning $43.6 million on its second day (a Saturday). Spidey was at $125.9 million after four days, while "Reloaded" has already garnered $135.8 million in that amount of time. "Reloaded" is the biggest opening ($93.3 million) ever for an R-rated movie, beating 2001's Hannibal ($58 million).
