Mit Pentium-M im Tank läuft’s bis zu 11 Stunden.
Das neue LifeBook P5000 ist mit einem Pentium M 1 GHz Ultra-Low-Voltage ausgestattet und soll nicht zuletzt deswegen eine beinah unglaubliche Akkulaufzeit von 11 Stunden haben, zumindest mit einem zweiten optionalen Akku. Das Display ist eines der größten Stromfresser, doch da es nur 10,6 Zoll groß ist kann hier doch auch etwas gespart werden. Die weiteren Komponenten in dem Ultra-Portable-Notebook sind max. 1 GB Arbeitsspeicher, 60 GB HDD und ein optionales CD-RW/DVD-ROM-Laufwerk.
Der kleine Begleiter wiegt lächerliche 1,54 kg und misst 26,1 x 19,8 x 3,9 cm, also weniger als ein DIN A4-Blatt.
Zu den Schnittstellen zählen zwei USB 2.0, FireWire, S-Video, VGA, PC Card Typ I/II, Sound und ein Memory Stick-Slot. Optional kann auch eine IEEE-802.11b/g-taugliche Karte eingesetzt werden um auch drahtlos Verbindung aufnehmen zu können. Da WLAN nicht serienmäßig integriert ist, ist es auch kein Centrino! Derzeit ist die Einstiegsversion zu 1.549,- US-Dollar nur in den USA erhältlich. Über Preise und Verfügbarkeit hierzulande ist noch nichts bekannt.
